iwo jima name change
this past week Japan officially signed off to change the name of Iwo Jima back to it's original name of Iwo To.
the request came from the original inhabitants of the island. among the reason cited was they say it's in response to Clint Eastwood's movie Letters from Iwo Jima...somehow because it was directed by an American...
makes you wonder...if it was someone else or a Japanese who produced and directed the movie, would they have just as adamantly pushed to change it? hmmmmmm. of course they are free to do whatever they want...just thought it was interesting.
